Saw this adult
Greater Black-backed Gull (Larus marinus) in Quarteira this morning.
The species is still considered a rarity in Portugal, but single birds show up with regularity in the Algarve. Mostly youngsters, of course.
The bird was roosting about 5 ms away from a working fisherman but did not bother.
Next to it, a first winter

Larus michahellis) was bearing a type of colour pvc-ring I did not see so far - curious to find out where it comes from.

Motacilla alba yarrellii) - a winter-guest from the British Isles, was still at the same location where I observed it a month ago...(check an earlier
